Getting Error 1073807343 at VISA Open when trying to use VISA USB driver

Hi,

I've created and installed NI-VISA USB driver for a microcontroller-based system. A LabView program is used to work with the microcontroller. Everything is OK when I plug the USB cable in one of the USB ports, though when I change the port it's giving me an error. I've tried to change VISA resource name, it didn't resolve the problem. I'd like to make the program work independently on what USB port is used. Is it possible? Basically, I've tried it on 2 laptops and both have the same problem.

I'm using LabView 8.5, Windows XP Pro, PIC18F2455 Microcontroller.

Are you currently using a National Instruments USB device?

No, I'm not using a NI USB devuce. It's only LabView program trying to communicate with PIC microcontroller that has USB interface.

Hi chistol,

Is this just a USB instrument you are trying to control with LabVIEW or is it some converting device (a USB to Serial conversion, for example)?  If you are using a USB instrument, does the device show up as a VISA resource in MAX?  Have you gone through the VISA Driver Development Wizard or did you use the driver that came from the instrument manufacturer?  If you used the manufacturer's driver, it may not show up or work properly with NI-VISA.  With the VISA Driver Development Wizard, once it shows up as a VISA resource, you should be able to find the resource in the LabVIEW Open a session to it using VISA Open.  If you are having issues after using the Wizard, please post back with additional info.
