Getting LV 8 installer to get components from c drive

Has anybody had any luck in getting the LV 8 installer to get components from C drive instead of the CD? I was told for instance that to have the installer get the DAQmx components I needed to copy the Device Drivers CD to my C drive. Then I tell the installer (on the Additional Installers) page where the data is located now. When I run the installer it first it tells me it can't find the data, then when I give it the exact same path as I put in earlier it will accept it.

I also can't get some of the installers to accect the location I enter. NI-IMAQ for instance. I give it the location where it's located and the control keeps changing back to what it was before I changed it. Incredibly frustrating.

Hi George,

Thats pretty strange. Are you able to cancel out of the driver portion of the LabVIEW 8 installer, let it finish installing LabVIEW, and then install the drivers afterwards?

Regards,
Chris J

Sorry Chris, my wording was deceiving. I meant that the problem occurs when I run the builder for the installer. Maybe if you reread my last post with that in mind it'll help.

Hi George,

That helps. I think we may be on the same page now. Have you looked at this post?

I had to totally uninstall my device drivers and MAX and then install them from my C drive. Now it seems to know where to look. There must be an initialization file somewhere that tells the installer where to grab the installers from. It'd be nice to be able to edit the paths in there instead of having to uninstall/reinstall everything.
