Hi Prashant,

I have a couple of questions for you so I can help you better troubleshoot your 9188.

1.) What version of LV are you using?

2.) What version of the drivers are you using?

3.) Has the device ever worked on your laptop?

4.) Have you tried comunicating with the device in Measurement and Automation explorer?  If so, does it work?

5.) What lights on the device are on?

6.) What modules do you have in the chasis?

Regards,

Hi Greg,

The answers of your questions are as follows:

1. I am using Labview 2011.

2. I have installed drivers came along with that. and I have installed cDAQmx driver version 9.2.2 9 (Could you tell how to check this driver is installed in the system so I will give a double check)

3. No I tried for the first time.

4. Yes I tried with Automation explorer only. It didnot work. It tried with cDAQ name i.e. cDAQ9811-15E9759

5.power is green and status is yellow for a while then go. I have checked the connecting cable also it is good.

6. Modules are 9476 & 9425.

I have doubt whether my windows7 wants any kind of special settings?

Thanks

Prashant

Please check again in MAX but be carefully to look under Devices and Interfaces and Network Devices.

Also, since 9188 is a new device released in 2011, you might want to updated DAQmx drivers to the newest one 9.4.

You can downlaod the new driver www.ni.com/drivers and choose DAQmx.

Kind regards,

Ion R.

Hi,

yes I have checked in MAX 9188 is not listed. Also this driver is working properly in one of the XP machine with the same chassis.

Kindly suggest.

Thanks

Hi Prashant-

I might suggest a couple of troubleshooting steps:

You mention that your cDAQ-9188 is connected directly to your PC.  I assume this means you are using either a normal or crossover ethernet cable (either should be fine) and not a switch, router, or other existing network infrastructure.  For the PC, which settings are you using to establish an IP and associated settings (DHCP+Link-Local, also known as 'Obtain and IP address automatically', or are you setting a static IP directly)?  Please connect the device, wait a couple of minutes, and then execute 'ipconfig' at the command line and post the output here.

If you are using Link-Local addressing and have multiple NICs installed in your computer, it may be possible that the routing table is sending and/or receiving traffic across interfaces.  Please post the output of 'route print' after your 'ipconfig' output.  After that, try disabling other NICs in your system to see if that helps.

Can you locate the device using other mDNS browsers like NI's Network Browser (installed with DAQmx) or with Apple's Bonjour browser (if you have it installed)?  We have seem some very isolated cases where the device locating service in MAX fails but other mDNS browsers are successful.  Which version(s) of DAQmx and/or LabVIEW do you have installed?  What happens if you try to add the device manually by right-clicking on Network Devices in MAX?

EDIT: I just noticed from your earlier post that you are using LabVIEW 2011 and DAQmx 9.2.2.  It seems unlikely that updating DAQmx will help with this specific issue, since LabVIEW 2011 already installs the newest released versions of MAX and its underlying components.  But, while you're still in the getting started stage on this project, you should consider updating to the newest release of DAQmx just to make sure you have any other bugfixes that affect cDAQ in general.

Hi Tom,

I am attaching 2 attachments of ipconfig and route print please go through those actually I am not abe to get IP. I dont know which link I am using to establish IP. How to get that?

Another XP machine is working properly with the same driver. Which is the latest driver for DAQmx?

If I am connecting manually by putting the cDAQ name. The message is the device is not found.

If you want some more data or screen shots please let me know

Please suggest

Thanks

Prashant

Hey Prashant-

I see at least two things that may be giving you problems.

One, the fact that you have no IP whatsoever and that some of the fields (IP address and subnet mask) seems to point to some kind of breakdown in your NIC driver or Windows settings.  If you go to Control Panel>>Network and Sharing>>Advanced Adapter settings (names may be a bit different since I listed from memory), you should be able to adjust the TCP/IP settings for IPv4 for your adapter.  Set it to automatically acquire an address and reboot to see if things improve.  If not, you might need to troubleshoot further as to why that interface seems non-functional.  If you plug it into a router, switch, or LAN modem, are you able to connect and see better results?

The other item I noticed is that you have VMWare tunnelling adapaters configured.  I think that the first paragraph in my post is most important, because these issues will be insurmountable if your network interface isn't functional, but once you get past that point you may have routing problems/confusion on your system with those VMWare adapters.  If you don't need those adapters you should consider disabling them to avoid any issues.  This NI KB has some other helpful troubleshooting suggestions, as well.

Thanks Tom,

This time you got the disease, I uninstalled VMware and put IP settings on automatic mode on my Laptop and Gotcha! IP address appeared on the network and my machine is connected to NI-9188.

Thanks Again

Prashant
