Help - I've just lost it!!

Solved!
Go to solution

I've just lost LabVIEW help.

Very confusing. I've been using it all day, I tried to launch help from one of the hyperlinks to a more detailed description in one of the quick help windows (Ctrl+H) and it's gone!

I've tried closing LV and restarting it, I've just rebooted my PC and still all I get is the LabVIEW help box on the toolbar, but no application/window behind it that activates when clicked.

When Task manager switches to LabVIEW help task, all other windows lose focus, but no help appears.

OS = Win XP

LabVIEW = 8.6.1 (the only version on this Laptop)

Any Ideas?

Could it be the help window is on the second monitor or otherwise outside the monitor boundaries?

Do you still get an entry in the task bar? What happens if you right-click the task bar entry and select "maximize"?

Check the disk for errors and try repairing the LabVIEW installation.

Christian , you're a genius!!! Smiley Very Happy

It was hiding somewhere off screen despite the fact the monitor could not display a larger resolution!

Right click > Maximise was the solution.

Thanks

Now when are you, Ben, Saviero and Dennis going to join forces to destroy Windows and bring out your own OS??? Smiley Tongue

Well there is still a step left if you also want to look at the help not maximized. While the help window is maximized, go back to the task bar entry and do the same to restore (=unmaximize). Now go back and select "move".  Move the window with the arrow keys until it appears and you can grab it with the mouse. 😉

When I first read the title to this post, I was thinking "been there, done that".  Happens to me quite often.
