High Temperature Anemometer?

Hi All,

Sorry for the OT post, but since I am using LabVIEW to collect flow data, I thought maybe I could sneak this in.

Does anyone know of a hot-wire anemometer that can withstand temperatures up to 600C?  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Are you measuring wind speeds on Venus?

To the best of my knowledge 600C and wind speeds indicate blast furnace air flow.  monitor the source gas volumn at low temp and adjust for high temp pvt with a calculation based on volumn and measured chamber temperature.

Sadly, I am looking at a closed loop system.  All temps will be between 400 and 500C most of the time.

I think I can make a pitot tube work.  We shall see...

You should be able to modify a standard anemometer to use platinum wire.  If you have good data on the thermal properties of you gases at various temperatures, it should be possible to calibrate at low temperatures and compensate for the changes with temperature.

Platinum wire is not cheap but it is readily available.
