How can I count pulses of a inductive sensor?

I have an inductive sensor to measure the rotative speed of a motor. The problem is that I don´t know how to configurize the sensor. My sensor is connected first to a terminal block, and from terminal block to BNC-2090A it appears three cables:

 - The bigger one is black and you can connect it to the inputs.

- There are also two thiner cables, one black and one red. One is connected to the 5V hole and the other to the ground.

I have proved testing in measurement&automation and I get to count the pulses, but just in the test panels, cause there I could choose the channel PFI0.

But when I try to add a new task I have just two option in Counter Inputs>Edge Count: ctr0 or ctr1. Which are these channels? Why can´t I the other channels choose? How should I cofigure the measurement?

Thank you

Don't you have a users manuel somwhere for the sensor?

When you create an edge counting Task, you can either choose to use CTR0 or CTR1. Then MAX shows where to connect your sensor.

So I would suggest to do it the other way round, create a Task and see where to connect your "Thick black cable" to the board.

You will find a PIN out when right clicking on the card in MAX or a connection diagramm in the Task configuration.

But when you say create a Task, which kind of Task do you mean?

Thank you for your answers.

I wrote: "....When you create an edge counting Task,..."

-> Count Edges

But you say, create a task and then see where you have to connect the cable. The problem as I have already said is that ctr0 is located in PFI8, and I can´t connect my thick black cable in this hole.

Thank you one more time.

I have read that it is possible to use BNC connector for a digital signal using the USER1 BNC connector. For this I should connect USER1 pin with the PFI8 , that is the pin where counter is located.

It is correct what I am saying?

Thank you
