How can I monitor 480V bus load with LabView 6.1?

I am trying to measure loads on a 480V bus during 24hr period to determine peak load times and consumptions. I have this LabView 6.1. How can I use this? What kind of HW and Software do I need? any examples? Thanks.

In terms of hardware you will probibly need some sort of current transformer. Assuming this transformer provides enough isolation, it's output would feed a standard IO card. Alternately you could use a IO card with an isolated front end--for higher cost.

For software, there are examples that ship with LV that would do the basic acquisition. Beyond that, it depends on what you want to do with the data you collect. You also need to determine how fast you need to sample the input--in other words are you looking for steady state load, or spikes.

If you want you can call or email me and we can discuss wat you need to do in detail.

The SCXI-1125 with the 1316 connector take provide isolated inputs to 1000VDC, ample for 480V RMS. If you need Power Quality Measurements, L3 Com Analytics has a nice toolset for making more than just metering measurements. See the attached datasheet of the PQ tools.

For sensors, you might consider LEM or some of the other names mentioned in the attached files.
