How can I play synthesized tones rather than wav files with a soundcard from LabVIEW?

The LabVIEW (LV5 and LV6) beep.vi for W95 gives me a click rather than a tone. Repetition with a for-loop produces a very scratchy tone. I know the soundcard (ESS chips built in to a DELL portable) can synthesize proper tones but can anybody tell me how to do it from LabVIEW (v5 or v6).

There are some examples in 6i under Labview/examples/sound/sndExample adv.llb that you want to look at. In these VIs, they generate tones at a particular frequency rather than a wave file. You can use these VIs as a guide to generate the tones you want. On my sound card, these don't sound scratchy at all.

Mark,
Thanks for the tip.. it isn't exactly what I had in mind (these examples still use the wav player, not the synthesiser), but the tones are good and will do OK for my purpose.
