I think most of the unmitigated a**holes out there, would take that comment as an insult of theirs profession

Rouge,

You are correct, of course.  I am trying to be better.

Do you think that there might be any applications out there, that generate large quantities of data, that might benefit from larger supported storage capacities while still enjoying the benefits that a RTOS brings to the table?

Do beneficial characteristics an RTOS and the benefit of larger storage capacity have to be mutually exclusive?

Shane,

Being aware of that, I did my best to get it right and blew it.  Sorry.

Anyway, what do you think:

As entertaining as this forum has been like a Jerry Springer episode, I appreciate that we are closing this post out in a courteous manner.

Unfortunately I could not be at NI Week this year enjoying the 100+ degree weather, the amazing bbq, and the beautiful girls, but I did get around to asking Mike King (some of you may know him, he's the product support engineer for RT), and he confirmed that the patched up version of ETS was included in LV RT 2009.

Wish everyone a productive day.

Okay. I think my point of view was a little different. While NI does sell the OS as part of the RT package, I never believed that the bug in the reading of large disk drives was something serious enough to matter to the large majority of RT users and I have some large doubts over how much influence NI has over Vxworks. I previously worked at a place where Vxworks was embedded in all of the products and even with many magnitudes greater of an installed base, the influence to correct bugs or add features was relatively slight.

I'm glad that Vxworks has finally addressed the issue.

Dennis,

I'm glad too.

I'm looking forward to adding some features and capabilities to some of my projects that long for both RT and storage capacity.

You shall have some kudos for your impressive "Walk to Canossa" I do not think even of Henry IV of the Holy Roman Empire (the original). Could have done it better

Besides which, my opinion is that Express VIs Carthage must be destroyed deleted
(Sorry no Labview "brag list" so far)

Thank you Rouge,

Speaking of Kudos, I have given everyone Kudos.

What do think of that Tolga guy?

He seems level headed.  Seems to be in the know.

Always gotten wonderful results from Tolga, our local rep.

Seems like this forum thread has been "entertaining" to him at my expense.

My prior forum thread deemed "entertaining" was:

Be aware, it contains some McKevin rants.

I wonder if McTolga could get the inside scoop
and find out if we can put a Tab inside a Cluster
in LabVIEW 2009?

Kevin,

I wouldn't know much about the RTOS practically, I've never used the system myself.

I owuld imagine that development and testing of a RTOS system takes quite a lot of time andalso has a smaller market than "normal" OSes.  Therefore it would seem logical that they will be a little behind the cutting edge of modern technology.

I suppose there are always going to be applications which will reach limitations others thought to be no problem.

I mean, Bill Gates and his 640k.  You've gotta laugh.

Shane.

Truthfully dixy normous, let me know your address, and I willship you a 1.5TB drive.  Just letme know where you want it shipped and I will mark it to your attention.  Oh, PATA or SATA?  If 2.5” SATA, then the best I can do is512G, or 320G for or 2.5” PATA.

Can I get a 2 TB hard drive?  I just bought a 1.5and it is not larger enough to hold a VI that one client has developed.  😞
