How do I connect labview to external databases

There is the Database Connectivity Toolkit offered by NI and there is LabSQL which you can search for on the web.

Also, Mike Porter has taught me a thing or two about LV and database connectivity.  If you don't want to shell out for the DCT, then have a look at this thread.  He kindly posted a zip file of stuff that might help you out.
