How do I play a generated frequency through my sound card?

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi, I am using Labview Student Edition 7.0 on Windows 7.

I am generating a signal at a defined frequency (in this case around 1200Hz - well within the audible range) and trying to feed this out to my sound card to be played through my speakers. However, I am not getting any output when I've attempted to use the SO VIs.

Please see the attached VI. I would be very grateful for any assistance on this matter. It's a few years since I've used Labview and I'm consequently approaching this as a near-novice.

Thanks,

Rob

Hi Rob,

I have found an example in version 7.1 which should help you along. If you go into the example finder Help > Find examples, then search for "sound" there should be a VI there called Continuous Sound Output. See if you can find this and let me know if it does what you need.

Aha yes, thanks. This example works well, not sure why my own didn't, but I guess I can adapt the example for my own ends.

Cheers.
