How do i add custom task-oriented browse paths to the example finder?

Is this possible, or are the browse paths limited for better integration with the on-line community?

Thanks,

Hello,

Let me make sure I understand your question correctly, because I may have to do some research in order to answer it.  Are you asking whether or not you can add a folder of custom examples to the example finder when you browse according to task?  The idea being that you would like to create some examples and make those available in your example finder.

I have attached a screeshot/mockup of what I described above (as an attempt to understand the question) - I did not actually add a folder named My Custom VIs, I simply doctored the screenshot in paint.

I look forward to your repost, and please also note that I may not be able to disclose such information even if it turns out to be possible.

Thanks for responding.  Yes, that's exactly what I would like to do: create custom paths for examples that may not fit in very well with the default tasks.  I know how to add my custom examples to the example finder and assign task-oriented browse paths and search keywords to them.  I can add new search keywords, but not new browse paths.  I understand if you can't reveal the information; if this is the case, you could consider it a feature request for the future.

Thanks,

Matt

Hello,

Great, I have inquired with R&D about how to do this, if possible.  I post whatever I can as soon as I have word back (generally does not take more than a day)!

Correction: "I post" should have been "I'll post" in the previous post 😉

Has there been any progress made on this request?  I understand if the answer is "it can't be done."  If this is so, is it now possible with LV8?

Hello,

Sorry for the delay on that!  Yes, I checked with R&D and they said this would not be possible externally, as it would require a change in the example finder application itself.  I apologize that this is not an option for LabVIEW 8 either, as the structure of the example finder was fundamentally maitained.
