How to build Flickermeter on Labview

I'm a new user of Labview and using the student version 7. I have famirialized myself with VI's and sub VI's etc. However I am expected to develop a flicker meter on Labview for my project which is due in September and I do not know where to start.

Your help will be highly appreciated

Are you trying to display aquired data, or is this a data set that you define or from an equation??

Iguess more importantly, what is a flicker meter?  I did a quick google search and did not find anything specific to one type of flicker meter. I am guessing that is a measurement of the "flicker" in a light.

Another important question is what kid of data are you getting from your flickermeter?  How are you interfacing the flickermeter with the computer?

Thank you gentlemen, in response to the questions asked.

  • The meter measures flicker in light
  • I will be getting a signal from the Flicker Generator and interface it with the DAQ card through to Labview program
  • I will then have to compare a Flickermeter signal that goes through a CPU with the one displayed on Labview

I do have a hard copy of the circuit diagram for a Flickermeter but unable to use this info to achieve my goal.

Here is a start to your vi.  It shows you how to compare the 2 signals.  We wont be able to help you much more as to writing more code for you, since we do not ahve the Flicker meter circuit, nor the time to build it and try to write the whole VI from it (at least most of us dont)

Once you add in the data aquisition part of it and are able to display a waveform, then we will probably be able to help you from there or if you cant get it working give you some hints on how to proceed the data aquisition.  If you cant get the data aquisition working, please let us know what device you are using to aquire the signal, is it a digital signal or an analog signal.  We will need as much information as you can give us, otherwise we are just shooting in the dark.

The best teacher is yourself, the more that you try to get it working, the more you will learn.  (not to say that you cant get hints along the waySmiley Wink )

I know that it can seem daunting in the beginning but take it as baby steps.  Get one part of the vi going, then build from there.

The vi is saved in LV 8.0

I can be reach at bernardhu@theiet.org

Looking forward to hear from you.

Thanks!
