How to connect Displacement Transducer (Strain type) in Labview

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello, I have a displacement transducer from KYOWA (DTH-A series) and NI 9237. I want to write the LabVIEW program to read data.

But I don't know what kind of analog input to select, while I'm trying to create a new task for DAQMx as in the Figure below. because I cannot choose LVDT due to the unsupporting of NI 9237

Thank you

What makes you think to need LVDT inputs? If I didn’t misread the manual for your sensor completely, it is simply a strain gauge with 4 wire connection and a recommended excitation voltage of 1 to 4 Volt. Do you see the “Strain Type” in your image? That should be what you need for your sensor and the 9237 supports that. If you really had an LVDT sensor output, the 9237 would be the wrong module to use.

So, NI has some excellent info about strain gauges and how to use them. Check this out https://www.ni.com/en/shop/data-acquisition/sensor-fundamentals/measuring-strain-with-strain-gages.h...

At the bottom is a link to a hardware guide. It's not the fast answer but if you read all this info you will know more about strain gauges than a lot of engineers that use them for work : )
