How to control Eurotherm 2216e with LabView?

Hi outhere

I have 2 off these Eurotherm 2216e i want to control with labview, as the rest of my set up is run by labview. I am unsure about a lot of things regarding the Eurotherm 2216e, and reading the manual https://www.eurotherm.com/?wpdmdl=26675 doesn't help me a lot.

I am going to use the 2216e to heat up units to different temperatures and to get the temperatures of the units.

I see there is 4 ways to connect the a 2216e to a computer, but i am not sure what there is best for my needs?

4-wire EIA-422 serial communications

EIA-232 serial communications

PDS Setpoint input (SST)

2-wire EIA-485 Serial Communications

I am also not sure how to get/set the temperature from the 2216e, as i can't find a command list, but it might be me reading the manual wrong.

Any help and/or examples would be greatly appreciated, as i am new to the control of 2216e/ pid controllers.

Yes i did see this one, but it doesn't really answer my first question about how to connect the pc to the 2216e, except the user uses rs-232.

As there are 4 types of inputs an i have two 2216e i was hoping to see if any of the other input methods was better than rs-232.

Also that post is 15 years old, and maybe there has been some updates to both connection method and software.

But i appreciate the input.
