How to determine the version of LabVIEW used for a vi.

I have recently started replying to messages in the forum in order to help people out and have downloaded a few vi's to get a look. If I post a reply with attached code, it would be useful to know what version of LabVIEW the original vi was programmed with since nobody with version 6.1 or earlier can benefit from what little wisdom I have (I use 7.1). Is there a way to tell what version of LabVIEW was used to create a vi?

Cheers,
Tim

Just open the VI, then go to "VI properties". Now press the button "Current changes" on the "general" tab.

It will tell you if the VI has just been converted from an earlier version. Highlight that line and look at the details box below. It will give you e.g. the original version and other information.

Another approach that I often use is to close the VI. The dialog that pops up asking to save includes an Explain Changes button that accesses the same Properties information. After I see which version it was created with, I close the dialog and Cancel the Close VI.

LV often provides multiple ways to do the same thing.
