How to listen to real time data from a microphone

Hi

I have a VI which records microphone signals in time domain and writes it into a binary file.
While at measurement sites the ear is the best way to judge a sound signal rather then seeing it on a waveform graph, So i need to make some modifications in my VI which while recording the data it will play sound simultaneously. how can i do that. I tried to see examples on sound in Labview but none made sense to me, and in one of the discussion it was mentioned about record sound.vi in example but i couldnt locate that example.
Any help on these matter will be appreciated.

I am using Labview 8.0 and PXI 4472 cards for acquiring the data

Thanx in advance

Nitin

Hey Nitin!  There are VIs in LabVIEW that will allow you to play sound, but they rely on the sound card, or equivalent device to output the sound.  If you have these then this will work great.  The VIs are located on the Functions » Programming » Graphics and Sound » Sound palette, and the Play Sound Express VI (under the Output palette) is the easiest to use.  Although if you have a sound card it might be easier to just hook up another mic and unmute it so that the sound basically passes through.

Let me know if you have any questions!
