Yes there is never enough counters and I have asked NI why the counters are limited to 2 when many applications require more than two. I have used the 6602 card which is a pure counter card it is about $600 and has 8 counters. it is a great little piece of hardware and I highly suggest it for counter applications requiring scalable channels. I would hope that Ni would consider a multifunction card which is geared towards counting but provide a few analog functionalities such as 6 counters, 8 AI 2 AO conficuration but nothing is available yet.
