How to reboot PXI with RT OS

Hi

I have a PXI-8196 and LabVIEW 7.1. I controled it at distance and I lost the communication. I can ping it with its IP address but I don't see it in MAX. I need to reboot it and I wonder if I can do it by an other way than MAX. I tried RT Reboot Controller.vi in LabVIEW and shutdown -m in DOS command without success. Also, I don't have configure the watchdog to reset the PXI.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

When you state that you have controlled the PXI system at a distance, do you mean that the device is not on the same subnet?  Do you have a startup VI that is being executed with the PXI system - I ask this because it may be blocking your communication?  One thing to try to check if the system  is functioning properly in LabVIEW is to use the Real Time System Manager tool-  This tool is very useful in telling you how much processor/memory is in use on the controller.  Are you able to have someone boot the device in safe mode from the bios and then for you to check  the device in MAX?

I hope this helps,

Nadim,

I communicate via VPN with the PXI. I tried Real Time Manager tool but I have error 56 all the time. I think that I will send someone to boot the PXI manually.

Thanks.

Hi,

Error 56 probably has to do with the settings on your PXI controller, specifically allowing TCP/IP communication.  Here is a tutorial on how to remove errors when using the RTSM

I hope this helps,
