How to send data to a RS232 instrumnet via a Voice Two-way Radio?

My application needs to send and receive data to and from a RS232 interface on a FieldPoint module via a Voice Two-way Radio and Voice Modem. How could Handshaking to establesh the communication and Error Cheking etc be achieved using LabVIEW?

Hello, there.

There is a Library in LabVIEW that contains a VI that lets you control the DTR or the RTS line on the serial port.
The name of the VI is Serial Line Ctrl.VI and it is part of the _sersup.llb

I'm not sure about the radio and the FP stuff, but I control a modem just by sending the AT command to the modem with a VISA write to the serial port it occupies. To dial, I send ATD followed by the phone number. The modem firmware handles all of the handshaking, etc. Once I'm connected, it's just like the box I'm talking to is directly connected by a serial cable.

VISA would work in a regular LabVIEW application, but VISA is not supported by LabVIEW Real Time (version of LabVIEW used to create embedded applications for Fieldpoint).
