How to snap/grab with a smart camera 1742 (No interface found)

Hi,

I have a smart camera (NI 1742) and I'd like to snap or grab an image. I saw that there are 2 examples so I ran them, but I always get an error "No interface found". In MAX, I can see the interface (img0) (see picture above) and I can grab and snap images, change parameters of the camera, etc. When I ran one of the example, MAX is close and the error appears in the "IMAQ init.vi".

Since I'm a beginner in Vision systems, I tried to do it myself first (I didn't know there were examples). So I used "IMAQ init.vi", then the error (no interface found) appears.... I used "IMAQdx open camera.vi", then the error (camera not found) appears... I used the "IMAQ1394 init.vi", then the error (camera not found) appears... (see "snap smartcam.vi", but the problem now is that even the examples gave me this error). I know I need to use IMAQ init.vi but since it's not working I tried other things.

I can ping the camera and it works in MAX... I don't know what I do wrong here...

Any ideas?

Thank you very much

Stephanie

You cannot simultaneously use max and init.Close max while you are running ur vi.Have you specified img0 in init.Check it.R u closing each session properly?

I am using lv 8.0.Can you post your vi for 8?

Hi,

I found how to solve my problem. I needed to create a real-time application with the example.

Thank you for your help,

Stephanie

Hi Peachy, could you tell me how did you solve your problem step by step, please? I have the same problem than you. How did you create the real-time application with the example?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Cris,

On my old note, it says that I use this knowledge base: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/7FEE6BCFD264175C8625723E000D928E

Hope this can help you,

Thank you very much Stephanie, I solved my problem. For references: LabView doesn't detects NI Smart Camera Error -1074397145

Just one more question, did you need save images or  a sequence of images or an AVI file? Did you can do it? Thank you.
