Thanks for your reply. I created a vi that reads the state of a digital pin rather than a PFI pin and succeeded in obtaining the desired behavior. I've attached it below so those who would like to can refer to it.

Out of curiosity, is there really no way to accomplish this -- or something similar -- using the PFI pin on the USB 6229 OEM?

PFI lines can be configured for a variety of functions. Below, I have attached a link to a page on our website that explains the different available options for the PFI lines for the X Series, M Series, and E Series (The USB 6229 is an M series device)
