How

I will admit, I've always liked C.S. Lewis' works!  One thing that's brilliant about the Narnia series is that the stories work on different levels, for children and adults, and they work very well on both levels.

I wouldn't call the Silmarillion boring but it's certainly a much different style than LOTR but I believe that was the way that Tolkien intended it. He was constantly revising it up until his death and his son had to do a lot of work to publish a somewhat consistent account. Since I lent my teenage son my copy of LOTR and it's lost somewhere in a bedroom my wife and I are afraid to enter, I've had to content myself with re-reading the Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales, The Book of Lost Tales (vols 1-2), the History of Middle Earth (vols 1-12), Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien, and trying to find room to display my LOTR figures. Smiley Very Happy

No one else has mentioned this yet so I will.

CS Lewis and Tolkien used to hang out together and would critique each others work.

Now wouldn't you love to have been a fly on the wall for those occasions.

While this has all been very educational, the original question remains un-answered.

Good point Zillatx!

I believe the correct answer is

"Depends, could you post an example for us to look at?"

I think the original poster got at least one possible answer.

That would be to "How (do I get my inbox full of stuff I don't want)?"

A google search gives some interesting results. You already know the "How" dedicated magazine, but you probably are not aware of this most interesting link :

I missed the SW vs LOTR debate!!!  Darn!!!

I actually wasted time at the theatre to see the last installment of the SW movies.  It nearly was the first movie that I walked out on.

I'm not even going to comment on how bad and stupid the movie was...  George should have kept the first 3 and stop at that point..
