I am looking for some information on ELAN protocol for Siemens analyzers and also some information on AK protocol for California Analytical Analyzers. Mainly I need a starting point to communicate with these devices for labview.

@Labmaster,

I'll send you the ELAN VI library and the accompanying email info as I've done in the past, but just now looking up "ULTRAMAT 7", I've no idea whether it will be useful to you.  It appears to me (on brief inspection at the Siemens Process Analytics site) that they've repackaged their NDIR (ULTRAMAT), paramagnetic O2 (OXYMAT), and H2 (CALOMAT) analyzers into modules which are then hosted by a SIPROCESS GA700 chassis.  All I find on that chassis looks like an Ethernet interface.  If the interface is MODBUS over TCP, the ELAN protocol code I wrote (targeted to VISA serial, where the physical interface was generally RS-485) likely won't be of any use.  (The ULTRAMAT 6 and 23, and OXYMAT 6 and 61, all had the DB9 RS-485 serial interface.)

The good news, if there is any, is that there are a lot of MODBUS libraries written in LabVIEW already, but you'd need to write your own code atop one of those to read the MODBUS registers (by address) to get the measured data out of the gas analyzer.

Setting up a gas analysis system using OXYMAT/ULTRAMAT is not trivial, and I'm afraid I can't really offer much support there, but this forum thread has historically seen a lot of activity - perhaps someone else can offer guidance to specific follow-up questions you post.  As I'm sure I've posted previously, I only ever used OXYMATs, and that was about seven years ago now.  I had a specific plumbing setup (with a backpressure regulator) to sip the little bit of gas needed by the OXYMAT, as part of our production test system.

Look for an email from me shortly, as soon as I can dig out a prior copy.

Best of success!

Dave
