I am looking for some information on ELAN protocol for Siemens analyzers and also some information on AK protocol for California Analytical Analyzers. Mainly I need a starting point to communicate with these devices for labview.

Replied via email.  Please confirm you got a zip archive.

No special cabling.  It tends to be a custom setup, and it really is two signal wires (the TxD/RxD+, and the TxD/RxD-), plus of course a common return wire.  The back of the ULTRAMAT/OXYMAT is a DB9 (I forget the gender).  Your host side interface could be an NI-485 or some other level converter, but it does need to support two-wire mode (meaning the port somehow controls the driver and also blanks the receiver while transmitting).  You likely have to bridge the TxD and RxD pin pairs yourself on your host.  On the Siemens side, it is just a single pair of pins (labeled + and -, or maybe something-P and something-N, again I forget).

You are welcome!  I hope you find the driver and the example application to be helpful.

I think the link you provided directly to the PDF on the Siemens website may only work if one has a logged-in Siemens profile.  At least, that was my experience - only after I logged in (I already had an account) would the site allow access to it.

I need to replace the old (1998) copy of that PDF with your linked one ("new" - 2008!) in the zip archive I send out.  I have had one from 2006 in my possession.  Each release has a few additional commands which seem to only impact the latest models and/or the latest firmwares.
