I cant seem to find 2014 LabVIEW DSC Runtime (RTS) installer on the NI downloads site

Solved!
Go to solution

I cant seem to find a separate download for the "2014 LabVIEW DSC Runtime system (RTS)" on the NI downloads site.

I can only find the "LabVIEW Datalogging and Supervisory Control (DSC) Module" which I thought was the LabVIEW Develpment Environment DSC add-on installer only. Does this installer double as the Runtime installer as well?

From the documentation I've read, it seems there should be a separate 2014 DSC RTS installer. I have searched extensively and it keeps leading to the "LabVIEW Datalogging and Supervisory Control (DSC) Module"

Many Thanks

Paul H

Be patient - it's 5 am in Austin. NI Week is starting today and usually the new LabVIEW version is officially released during this event. I expect that all downloads of LabVIEW 2014 will be available at the end of this week.

Ah ok.

Reason I am looking for 2014 DSC RTS is becasue I bought LabVIEW Pro and DSC licenses last week, with 1 Year SSP.

I was installing 2013 SP1 when I noticed 2014 just got released and 2014 DSC has a new Modbus API included that I would like to take a look at for my next application.

Maybe I should stick to 2013 SP1 since its more mature than 2014.

Thanks

Hi Paul H,

I am an Applications Engineer at National Instruments UK. I noticed your Forum post last week and since you haven't really got a definitive answer I wanted to explain what you should do.

Since you have just bought a copy of LabVIEW you will have access to LabVIEW 2014. The Standard Service Program entitles you to upgrades for a year. With the release of 2014, all SSP customers will be sent the new disk set over the next month or so, so you should expect to receive a copy of disks for 2014 in the next few weeks.

The DSC Runtime license is not available as a download, and that is to do with the licensing. Since you'll need to run the same version of LabVIEW DSC development system as the runtime license, you'll need the new disk set.

Should the disk set you will be sent shortly not contain the installer for the DSC runtime License, please get in touch with your local branch, and they should be able to look into whether your runtime license entitles you to an upgrade.

All the best

Vsenior,

Thanks for the follow up reponse. Its good to official hear that the DSC Runtime is not readily available for downloading from the NI site. Because I could find the older DSC Runtime versions on the NI site I was sure the newer versions would be there as well.

An additional note to add. I did download the latest LabVIEW 2014 and the DSC dev module. Once ther full dev enviroment is installed, you can then create a project in labview and build an installer which included labview runtime and DSC runtime as additional installers. A few more steps than just downloading the lv & DSC runtime versions you want direct to the production target . The other benefit of this approach is you have a better chance of matching your runtime engine versions to with the dev environment versions you are buidling the DSC app in.

Regards

Hi naghshi,

The toolkit can be downloaded here:

LabVIEW 2014 Datalogging and Supervisory Control Module
http://www.ni.com/download/labview-datalogging-and-supervisory-control-module-2014/4848/en/

You will need a serial number to activate the toolkit; if you do not have one, you will need to purchase one from National Instruments.
