I have realtime 10.0.01 and NI RIO 3.6.0 installed?

Hello

I am updating last year control software to include another module but this time on a new chassis. I am not seeing communication from RT Controller which is NI 9012 and the chassis is NI 9112 purchased two months ago. Before I go deep into software to see if there is a problem with the software I want to make sure there is no hardware or driver issue.

The software installed on the RT controller is NI RIO 3.6.0 Jan 2011 and I also have Real TIme 10.0.1

I dont have NI Time syns and Industrial Communication for Ethernet/IP 1.1 adds-on and I dont require it because I am using DMA FIFO to stream data from FPGA to Host and I am not using other PLCs, ,

I have BIOS 3.18 currently installed on the controller.

Is it all ok?

Kind Regards

Austin

Hello Austin,

Below I have listed a few things that might be causing the issue plus a few questions if the first few items do not resolve your issue:

1) Here are a few links that can confirm the software and driver compatibility:

Minimum versions of LabVIEW, Realtime and FPGA and NI RIO version you need to use with the 9012 and 9112:

LabVIEW - 8.6

Real-Time - 8.6

FPGA - 8.6

NI RIO - 3.1.0

You can find these at the below link:

ftp://ftp.ni.com/pub/devzone/tut/crio_software_versions.htm

2) There is also minimum requirements for NI RIO 3.6.0, you need to be using either LabVIEW 2010 SP1 or LabVIEW 2011 SP1 as shown in the below link:

https://www.ni.com/en/support/documentation/compatibility/17/ni-rio-and-labview-version-compatibilit...

3) Another thing to check is that NI RIO is the same version on the cRIO and on your PC, these must mach, ie 3.6.0 on cRIO and 3.6.0 on PC/Laptop.

Now a few questions if the above has not worked:

  • Can you see the cRIO RT controller and FPGA Target in MAX?
  • Can you see the cRIO RT controller and FPGA Target in a LabVIEW Project?
  • Are you using the cRIO in Scan Mode?

If you reply to this post with answers to the above questions I will then be able to better diagnose your issue.

Kind Regards
