I need to unlock the administrative account password on our Labview Application.

The Engineer that designed our Labview Data Aquisition Package has
left the company. Design changes have been requested but design rights
have been restricted to Admin level login. We do not have the
password. How can we unlock the user rights?

First step would be to contact your admin. If the admin was the engineer
himself, contact him. BTW these suggestions assume you are using W2K

I used a version of this a couple of years ago when we were in a
similar situation - it lets you change the administrator password to
whatever you like, no free download though as it's a commercial
product.

Yes, the OS is W2K. The designer/ engineer is unavailable.

Sorry if i wasn't clear on the actual problem that I have. My issue is
with Labview Login Privileges and not with Windows 2000 login. I am
able to login to windows with admin rights.

Hi:

If it is a standalone machine it is going to be difficult. For a standalone
machine my best suggestion is to backup all files related to that account
before doing any experiments with files related to that account. Windows
2000 is remarkably unforgiving in case of inadvertant changes made to user
accounts. Although LabView is an excellent software I used only CVI and
cannot help much if solution can be sought from within LabView.

Good luck.

I'm not sure what you mean by LabVIEW login privileges. If you log
into Windows as non-admin and you get an error, that's probably
because the LabVIEW folder security settings only allow read access to
users. That's a Win2K thing and can be changed if you login as admin.
If the VIs that you need to midify are password protected, then short
of tracking down the guy that set them in the first place, then
there's really nothing to be done short of some sort of brute force
attempt to crack the password.
