IMAQ and USB installer question

Dear all,

I have found that there is a "USB installer" in ni for us to use common USB camera in LabVIEW and it states that the basic installion for the "USB installer"  are LabVIEW 7.1 or above with either Vision builder 7.0 above or Vision Assistant 7.0 above.
Actually I have a silly question that comes up in my mind is why I need to install the vision builder or assistant in order to install the "usb installer"?Smiley Surprised
As far as I saw in the description of the software, what we gain after installing those software are the image anaylsis library(such as pattarn match, and colour match else). I am wondering if there are some vision module  that can help to set up the USB camera. If so, can I just download it from ni? Since I just want to install the "USB installer" but not the library or functions for the vision assisant or vision builder.
What I have now in my computer is LabVIEW 7.1 anfd IMAQ 6.0.

Thanks in advance.
Io

Hi Lo,

Thank you for using National Instruments forums.  Turns out, that Vision is required as apart of the USB Installer.  Turns out that particular program was written by another source given to us to make available to the public.  It actually uses Vision functions and so this is why it requires Vision Development Moldule items.  If you have access to the VDM, then installing it will allow you to gain access to the USB Installers.

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks!

Justin

Dear Justin ,

Thanks for your reply.Smiley Very Happy

After seeing your reply and see through some docement again,I have figured out something--Vision development module is a module for us to develope the vision things and the USB is one that can be developed by the module. This is what I can conclude for that , as simple as this.
But I still don't know which part of the vision development module can support the USB.

Thanks for your help.
