Incompatability of MAX 6.0. with Labview 7.1?

I'm new to labview and have been trying some tutorials included with the Labview 7.1 CD.  I installed NI-DAQmx 8.9.5 driver software so that I could have access to more VI's to explore Labview's functionality.  It installed a whole bunch of stuff, including a newer version of Labview, Signal Express 2009.  Now, however, whenever I try to run Labview 7.1, my computer sends me the messge:

The requested feature is unavailable on "localhost".

Anyone got any suggestions?

If it helps, I'm running this on an Acer Aspire 3680 Laptop using a Vista Home Basic operating system.

As noted in the readme for 8.9.5, LabVIEW 7.1 is not supported. The last version to support 7.1 is 8.9.

Thanks!  Well then, any idea how to uninstall 8.9.5?
