Is LabView PDA compatible with IPhone?

Hi there,
I've used LabView PDA as a Smart interface for remote sensors, which broadcast realtime data via Bluetooth interface.
I wondered if LabViewPDA could run in an Iphone, from Apple, to comunicate wirelessly via Bluetooth.

Thanks,
Anisio.

The current version of the PDA module only targets Windows Mobile platforms, so I doubt there is any way its applications will run on the iPhone.

I keep hearing that the iPhone simply runs OS X, so maybe it will be able to run applications compiled in LV for Mac, but I doubt that.

Can you undertake control of a LabVIEW VI with remote panels from an iphone?

The real question is what technology allows remote panels to work, is it an active control inside a web browser and therefore windows only, or some other delivery method?

A.

The iPhone is locked so that 3rd party applications will not function.  It's possible to load unauthorized firmware on an iPhone (I'm not sure how) that allows 3rd party software, but I wouldn't recommend it.

As far as I know, remote panels in a browser are only implemented as ActiveX controls. They require installing the RTE, didn't work on Windows Mobile, and probably don't even work in the desktop mac.

If you only do viewing, however, they should be just an image, and that should be accessible from any browser.

Will the new LabVIEW PDA version which is to be iPhone capable be able to be booted into LabVIEW Real Time directly, or will we have to wait for an updated version of Boot Camp for the iPhone?

Or will the new version of iPhone Boot Camp let us install Windows XP and therefor NI's LabVIEW?  If so, will the new iPhone LabVIEW be capable of the multi-finger gestures on it's touch screen?

Will all of this apply to the iPod Touch too?

Hi,
I'm currently developing an IPhone/ITouch (IPhone hereafter) application similar to what you requested.  Essentially, the program provides a remote screen on the IPhone that is customizable on a server running LabVIEW via TCP.  As of now, the program is able to display and read values from Boolean, numerical, and string indicators/controls.  I’m adding more features that address current issues (eg. button mechanical action property, numerical sliders), testing, and writing the formal documentation.  Expect this program to be launched early February if not earlier.

Try the VIremote app found on app store. It lets you control a VI over WLAN. See http://throwlab.com/
