Is it Labview8.0 support for GPIB-USB ?

Hi all,

I have a Programmable power supply which supports GPIB interface.

I would like to interface the instrument through LABVIEW8.0 software. For interface to Computer i would like to use GPIB to USB connector(Instead of GPIB to PCI).

Is it Labview8.0 supports for USB.

Thankq all

Mahesh.

Do you mean you want to be able to use something like this?

If so, than yes, LabVIEW 8 (and 7.1, 7.0, 6.1...) supports such devices. They appear to the OS as a standard GPIB port so you won't need to do any re-coding in your applications.

I got the Agilent USB/GPIB Interface converter (which seems to be the same thing as the one show in the link in message 2), and I intended to use it to replace the GPIB card/cable I was using before (I no long have access to it).

I am using LabView 7.1 to acquire data from an Agilent 34401A multimeter, using the HP34401 drivers. Since I removed the GPIB card/cable and installed the USB/GPIB Interface converter, my vi gives the following error: "Error -1073807343 occurred at VISA Open in HP34401A Initialize.vi" and then "Possible reason(s): VISA: (Hex 0xBFFF0011) Insufficient location information or the device or resource is not present in the system." Any thoughts on what I should check then? I used the 'Agilent Expert Connection' program and it detects the dmm...

Thanks.

I'm sorry but I don't know what you mean by "same problem". There's several postings here on this thread and they are all a little different. You should provide more details. Are you using a NI GPIB-USB or from some other company? What is the "same code" you are using or trying to use.

There's also a separate Serial/GPIB/VISA forum that you might want to post to if it's a problem with GPIB hardware or software.
