Is there a way to clean up all the wires at once?

How do I install the llb?

An llb contains a collection of VIs, some can be tagged as "toplevel".

If you double-click it, typically the toplevel opens like a normal VI while it can easily find all required subVIs, since they are in the same llb.

Just open the toplevel VI and run it. 🙂

You can also place things in the "<LabVIEW dir>\Project" directory, restart LabVIEW, and things will show up in the tools menu of LabVIEW.

PJM this is way above my level:

how do you get the diagram refnum? the wire and diagram classes?

i tried to get into ..\National Instruments\MAX\Assistants\LVCGen\LV70\mxwScript_ClusterConnector.vi,

however the diagram is password protected - can we have the pass to check scripting?

---changing programatically the diagram structure ....hoooooooo.....

... And here's where I keep assorted lengths of wires...

In LV 7.0 it isn't.

Anyway, since then people have found other ways to get free access to the private features, so in LV 8.0 NI put it behind the license engine, so now you can't access the scripting stuff in your code unless you have a license (which you can't really get at the moment) or manage to hack around it. I suggest you go look at the LAVA forums' scripting forum for (a lot) more details.

One thought I had when I read the original post: Turn off the automatic wire routing. Then your wires can be much cleaner to start with. Yes, you still need to do some occasional clean up, but most wires are OK or at least do not have a dozen kinks put in by the autowiring algorithm. Auto wiring probably saves a few moments when first putting together a VI, but unless your layout are very spread out and open, I think you lose all the time saved in the beginning doing the cleanup necessary for a nice looking and readable diagram.

I go with you Lynn...

I use Automatic Wiring Smiley Wink, but NOT Automatic Airw Routing.
