Is there a way to restrict file control features when using the File Dialog function.

In LabView 7.1, I am using the FILE DIALOG function to prompt a user to open a file. The problem that I have is once the File Open window appears, the user has complete access to all the file control functions that are found in Windows Explorer. For example, the user can do a mouse right-click on a file and have the ability to rename, delete, copy or change the file properties. Is there another way in Labview that I can have the File Dialog and be able to limit the functions available to the user to just selecting a file name.

There's an option within LabVIEW to use native File dialogs or not. If you use the native (OS) dialog, I think you have this functionality. If you de-activate this function, it might restrict as you require.

The only problem is that the LV (Non-native) dialog is a bit ugly. And feels sluggish in comparison.

There may be a possiblity to change the Windows behaviour within THIS link.

Hope this helps

Shane.
