LV 3.1stud: using Sound Blaster 16 as DAQ card?

I wonder how I can use my Sound Blaster 16bit (vesa local bus)
as DAQ card.
Someone told me it's possible even if with limits
I'm a student.
Thank you

On the diagram is a palette of VIs for controlling the
soung card in your computer. The HW capabilities of
these cards vary enormously, from really poor, to
quite good, but any of them work OK for acquiring from
a cheap microphone and learning about signal processing.

If your version doesn't have any of these VIs, you
might want to look on the various ftp sites for other
versions that have been written.

Most soundcards have a RC-cirquit (, a high pass filter) on the input, to
filter DC signals. (Sound is never DC!). This might disturb your signal.
