LV 7.1 + Vista

Hi everybody,
Maybe someone posted this question before, but I didn' t find something on WINDOWS VISTA & LV 7.1...

Can I run LabVIEW 7.1 on Vista OS? Does anyone tried it? More, does anyone have a successfull VISTA EXPERIENCE of installing Developer Suite 7.1?  My great interest is in making work on Vista:

   -LabVIEW
   -LabWindows
   -Max
   -NiDAQmx

I don't have any Vista PC in my lab, so your feedback is wellcome for evaluating the possibility of upgrade of OS.  Thanks!

Hi graziano,

It is not simple to answer your question because there are some facts that must be taken into consideration.

Windows Vista is new and so there's no a "full and complete literature" about problems or compatibilities between it and NI products. I did for you some researches and what I can conclude is that it is possible to find some problems but IT ISN'T POSSIBLE to conclude that these problems are caused by the strict relationship Vista-NI products. So, what I'm saying is that if you encounter some problems using Vista, you should encounter the same (or other and maybe worst) problems also using WindowsXP.

However, I'll try to be more specific about your question. About using Labview 7.1 on Vista, I found no specific or particular troubles right now. Instead I found some documented bugs on using the couples Labwindows-Vista, MAX-Vista and NIDAQmx-Vista, but I stressed the fact that there are also a lot of documented bugs on using couples Labwindows-WindowsXP, MAX-WindowsXP and NIDAQmx-WindowsXP so it can't be concluded that these bugs are necessarily related to relationship Vista-NI products.

I understand that my answer is not very satisfactory but as I've already said it is difficult to have specific and certified certainties about newness. You can only be sure of two facts: 1. Only time has the answer, 2. Keep in mind that only those who are brave and decide to face new ways become great.

You should also check out the LAVA forums, as there was a thread there as well about this.
