is there anyone out there successfully implemented a LV program with embedded images on the front panel? is it possible to draw a line and detect the edges in the image?

You can do line profiling with IMAQ from NI, or with IVision from HYtek Automation.

You can use the picture indicator to show images in a LV front panel.
