We have two ears and one mouth so that we can listen twice as much as we speak.

Hi,
I got sick of the Generic file I/O error so I installed the patch you mention. However the first time I tried to save a modified file I still have the dreaded Generic file I/O error.
Any special tricks on the patch install?

Oops.
I read the readme and did the mods to the labview.ini file but the lines to add had speech marks round them. I put the speech marks into the ini file. I've taken them out and so far so good, it saves OK.

Anyone heard anything on this issue?
Its kinda dragging on a little is it not?
What about the open NI Job, did it never get resolved?

I vaguely remember a ticket being rasied for 8.5.......but it could have been 8.2.

I'm definitely holding off on installing 8.5.

Hi,
LabVIEW V 8.5.1 is available for download and in the bug fix list I see under Miscellaneous:
42G7H7O5 File I/O error: cannot save NameOfVI.vi
No mention of "Generic" but from previous postings to this thread I see the CAR? number 42G7H705 is the number relating to this thread. So it looks like it is solved.
P.S. I was wondering why not many people were worried about this bug. I have been reading a few post to the LabVIEW list and see that many people seem to have problems with their IT departments. One solution someone had was that they were allowed LabVIEW if their computer was not connected to the network. Maybe the majority of LabVIEW users store all their stuff on their local hard drive.
