Has anyone resolved an issue where LV pauses for 2-3 seconds when loading/unloading a file (Type Def added to a front panel, VI's being added to the Block Diagram, opening VI's that were only loaded in memory, copying/pasting from clipboard, etc)? It seems that I can move objects and wire without experiencing an issue, but adding and removing content from VI's seems to cause it.
The window I am also working with loses focus and a different window is on the top when this delay happens. Sometimes I have seen the order of my VI's changing on the Windows 7 Taskbar (see screenshot below).
I believe that this is an issue between LV and Windows 7. I have seen this issue on my new desktop (Win 7 Pro x64, Core i7 3.5 GHz, 8 GB RAM) using two different versions of LV (2012 and 2010 SP1). I have also seen the issue with a longer delay on a less capable computer with Win 7 Home. I have tried disabling Aero (How To Geek link) to no avail.

LV_Pro and I have seen this behavior on a machine running Windows-XP and LabVIEW 2010. We were never able to pinpoint why. It is very annoying.. We noticed that it would occur when saving a VI or making a change to a type def..
I would r-e-a-l-l-y like to know what causes this. Since you are seeing this with LV2012, that means it never went away.
We thought it was related to the PC that we were using. I am reading posts from other people facing similar issues. Glad we're not alone... but not glad that it happens in the first place... 😞

Add me to the bunch who is affected by this. Editing with LV (2011) gets painfully slow sometimes I restart my PC hoping in vain that it might fix the problem.

Interesting...
And yeah... rebooting does not help.. 😞

On my Win7 machine, whenever I call a DLL function that takes some time, e.g, a 20 second Wait for Sweep Complete (Agilent SpecAn), when Call Library Node returns, my current window loses focus and another open window (in the background) gets the focus. Since I am making several calls to this DLL function one after the other, my screen starts looking like musical chairs. This is with 2011SP1

Does the problem still exist in a built application? It could become a very big deal if it does. I have only been editing in Windows 7. I have not yet built an application and ran it.

No.. the built application seems fine.

Just curious and trying to pinpoint the problem...
Do other people having this issue also use Tab controls?
If so, then check out this thread...

I am not seeing the same symptoms. I do not have any tab controls, and I can delete wires, move objects, and change labels without delay.

I don't recall deleting wires and moving objects or changing labels having such an effect... I will pay a bit more attention to when it occurs and post my observations in this thread.
Thanks John.
