LV5.1.1 crashes

I'm running LV5.1.1 on an NT4 machine, sp6. I'm trying to write a program
that will synchronise VI heirarchies between this machine and a few others,
and to identify the current versions of files, I'm getting the size and the
last modified date from the file functions, and I'm getting the version
number using vi server- for each file opening a reference, getting the
history version number and then closing that reference.

There are about 800 files in the heirarchy, and most of the times I run the
program I get an error message entitled "ole_lv5 container". The message
text reads "Failed to create empty document". Labview then crashes with a
"memory could not be read" application error. The memory that could not be
read was at address 0.

I
've looked on the knowledgebase at natinst.com and the only thing that
seemed vaguely relevant suggested switching off multithreading, which I've
done. The program still crashes.

The machine has 256 megs of RAM, and I've kept task manager open and
monitoring memory usage; there are no abnormal spikes and memory usage stays
low throughout.

Does anyone know what's happening and how to fix it?
