I'm new to ethernet communication, and I'm trying to send a simple 1 or 2 from a LV vi to my NI Smart Camera. I went through the Smart Cam tutorial and set it up to receive a 1 or 2 from the sample Vision Builder Ethernet Terminal.exe program and it works ok, but the attached vi I created times out in listen.vi. I tried playing around with the ethernet passive & active vi samples, but the documentation isn't clear how to use them, and it seems overly complicated just to send a 1 or 2 to the camera. And they don't work,as well as I could figure out how to use them.
My ultimate goal is to send a simple boolean true to the camera to begin something, and have it return a boolean true or false corresp. to pass/fail. Seems like it ought to be simple enough. Any help?

I would look into using a shared variable. I had a similar app that used the smart camera and it worked out great. Here is a link to get you started.
