LV8 OPC Server Installer

I use Shared Variable Engine as an OPC Server with LV8.

I build an executable (with library deployement), It works on my developpement station (with LV8 installed).
I build an installer (with include Variable Engine and LV8 Runtime Engine).

If I install my application on a PC (Win XP or Win 2000) without LV8, it doesn't work :
Server explorer can see Variable Engine server but can't connect to it (Server not registered !!).

I hope someone can help me.

Than you,

Hello,

You have to manually regsiter the OPC server on the target machine. You'll find the msi (Microsoft Installer) responsible for registration on the LabVIEW 8.0 installation CD in \Bin\Products\NI OPC Support\opcsupp80.msi and run opcsupp80.msi on the TARGET machine. That should solve the problem.

I hope I answer the question,

I'm using 8.2.1 and am having the same problem. I have tried all of the things in the forums so start my shared variables and  everything works fine on my development computer but I can't get it to work on a remote PC when I make an executable.

Hi,

You also have to deploy the variables. See the link below for the deploy process for an exe.

How Do I Deploy Network Shared Variables From a Compiled Executable?

Any one solve this problem?

I follow all the instructions but I still can't see my Shared Variable on the executable.. Everything works fine on the development machine, included the executable running on the development machine works. But when I install my exec on the deploy machine, the shared variable engine seems to be "dead".

If anyone solve this problem please post the answer here.

Thanks,

DAvi
