LabVIEW 2010 disappears when opening project

Solved!
Go to solution

When I open my LV project, LV 2010 just disappears without further notice. This can happen both when LV is already started when I open the project from within Windows explorer, or when LV is not yet started. After a couple of trials in then finally opens properly.

What is the best procedure to get rid of this problem?

Apparently the project can only be opened when I click on in the list of recently opened projects in the LV startup window, but not otherwise.

Strange... and very annoying!

Hi dlanger,

A few questions to help isolate the problem:

Does this only happen with a specific project, or with any project?

In which version was the project created?

Can you open the project on another LabVIEW machine?

  •  The problem occurs only for this project, not for others.
  • The project was created with LV 8.6, when I remember correctly. I then switched to LV 2009 as soon as it came out and could work without any problems for the whole time (i.e., I modified the project a lot of times while using LV 2009). I recently switched to LV2010 and not a long time after the problem showed up.
  • We tested the problem on four different machines (with Win XP, Win7 32bit, Win7 64bit) and on all of the problem was the same.

It looks like the problem is in the project file.

I would suggest creating a new project file and reimporting the different VIs and elements to recreate it.

Let me know if that works.

Thanks a lot, jtagg! Recreating the project file solved the problem.
