LabVIEW (6.1 on W2K) with the OPC (5.1) server explorer

If I open LabVIEW (6.1 on W2K) while the OPC (5.1) server explorer is running, the values turn bad in the OPC server. I hear there is a memory leak? How do I fix?
It still occurs for LV8.2...
If I use a server setup with less channel names, it seems to workj a lil better...

Shouldn't these two pieces of software be compatble, especially made by same vender!!!!

HELP PLEASE

Hello Guy,
What hardware are you using?  How do the values turn bad in the OPC server?  Please describe the behavior that you are seeing.  Do you see the exact same behavior with LabVIEW 8.2?

Thanks,

We are using a KOYO 405 (DL450)
over the com port...

OPC server reports the memory values, no problem
when I start an instance of labview the values in the OPC server explorer go 'bad'
i.e.: it goes to 'bad value'
when I exit labview the values go back to being 'good val\ues' on the OPC server explorer

it seems to be dependent on how many channel names are defined in the OPC end
if I have loads of channel names I can't even open labview with out the explorer failing
If I just use the default channel names that come with the Gr under the device name, I can open labview and the values stay good, but when i run a big app the values go on me

8.2 just seems to operate sligthly better
but it basically crashes out the values too
(seems I can have more channel names defined..)

it might be some kind of memory leak, I heard...

so, I'm trying to use the OPCLookout Drivers in OPC server
and in labview I am calling the values from datasocket vi's

is there ANOTHER way to pull data from the PLC for labview???
I NEED HELP

I have clients breathing down my neck and this software is billed as compatible, but it obviously ISN'T!!!

Guy,
If you restart your computer, open LabVIEW and run your application does it read the OPC server correctly?

When using task manager to monitor memory usage, does the memory usage continue to rise?

If you try the Multiple OPC Items Monitor shipping example and choose "select items" does it read the values correctly?

If you try to access the OPC server from another computer, does that work?

Cheers,

NathanT

Hi Nathan
Ya, it doesn't matter if I restart...
(sometimes I hafta restart to reset the serial port anyway)
the same behavour on another PC...

looks like the solution is to use kepdirect...
instead of the NI OPC software...
I will be sending this back and getting my money back
it has cost much time and money....

crap!
I watched the mem usage on the task monitor... nothin' showed

using the default address works best (not too many addresses defined)
well, it doesn't work when you run a lv app on the 6.1 v of LV
but it runs fine on the 8.2...
as soon as more channels are defined it starts to pouch out on both versions...

curious!

thanks for your help, I wish I knew the answer!
cheers, G
