I've successfuly get around a first problem: properly install and update LabVIEW 6i on RedHat 8.0. The solution was to first upgrade the RPM-4.1 application to RPM-4.1.1-1.7x (ftp://ftp.rpm.org/pub/rpm/dist/rpm-4.1.x).
Problem #2:
Many front-end button or indicators are not well displayed for compiled LabVIEW applications only. Is there any problems with the Run-Time Engine. It worked well for me with Mandrake 8.0 or Suse 7.3 before. Unfortunely, I now have to use ReadHat 8.0 for some hardware compatibility.
I have not heard of this problem with RedHat 8. I recommend reinstalling the Run Time Engine, updating your video driver, turning down the color depth, and/or turning off hardware accelleration (if you have the setting).
