LabVIEW Professional Development system rights for license holder

Solved!
Go to solution

All of a sudden with Win7 upgrades.

My IT department is asking for clarity on this issue.

Specifically they are asking me where does it say I have the right to create and then install an executable on to a target machine, along with all the required libraries needed to make the executable work.

I have looked around a bit but can't find the language I need to convince them.

Anyone been here before?

Thanks in advance.

Try this.

http://www.ni.com/pdf/products/us/4msw55.pdf

Note:  "Enable license-free distribution of

executables and shared libraries"

Or section 12 of the general purpose software license agreement:

http://www.ni.com/pdf/legal/us/software_license_agreement.pdf

<beginning of section 12>

12. Application Deployment. You may distribute, deploy or otherwise make available Authorized Applications (along
with applicable runtime engines for the SOFTWARE and applicable Driver Interface Software that you may
include as part of or together with your Authorized Applications; and along with the Microsoft Silverlight software
which may be provided by NI as Third Party Software if the Authorized Application is one created using such
Microsoft Silverlight software) provided that you comply with each of the requirements set forth in sub-sections
(A.) and (B.) below:

Thank you RavensFan for the quick response!

I sure hope this is enough to convince them that my LabVIEW certificate of ownership entitles me to create and install an executable

on any target without needing any additional license.

If anyone knows of other language out there Id be most happy to see it.

The one caveat is that there may be some LabVIEW tool package addons that may require licensing.

Thank you Don_Phillips

With both links it seems the question is answered.

With this I hope I can convince my IT department to allow me to install in house applications on Win7.

Oh boy

Dare I ask what toolkits?

All I ever use is DAQmx and VISA

Any ambiguity (or complexity in explaining this) throws my quest right out the window with these guys.

They don't have much skill and they are paranoid about installing anything that isn't Office.

Those would be fine.

The other toolkits would be things like the Vision module or the DSC module.  Those have separate run-time licenses that are not free to distribute.
