Hello LabVIEW Community and AEs,
I'm looking for assistance beyond the "Not Officially Supported" statement with regard to Windows Embedded Standard 7. I am in a situation where I am not directly in control of hardware selection for an industrial HMI, and the customer for various business reasons has a preferred industrial PC supplier. As with many, many, industrial PCs the supplier is standardized on the Windows embedded platform. For all the reasons anyone would adopt graphical systems design, we are looking to implement a LabVIEW based solution. The bulk of the control processing handled by an RT target, with a native HMI application running on the WES7 computer.
I have found online that this question has largely been ignored, or submitted to the "not enough documentation." See:
https://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/LabVIEW-2011-and-wes7/m-p/1805604
It is clear NI has a fully supported configuration on specific hardware targets:
https://www.ni.com/en-us/shop/category/compactrio-controllers.html?productId=118195
My first question:
Why is there no documentation on how to build a supported target for WES7 (XP Embedded for that matter)? NI has a working configuration for this software suite, and the WES7 development tools offer a number of methods to capture this information. Can an example answer file be posted for the WES7 configuration editor? At least to outline the required core components for LabVIEW application support.
My Second Question:
Even in the event that I could go with a NI hardware solution (TPC, cRIO, etc.), the nature of this project would require documentation on the core components of embedded software. That would include a custom image of WES7 which would not be considered COTs. Can NI provide that documentation, if I purchase an NI touch panel?
Thank you for the time in reading through this, and looking forward to any responses/suggestions.
Cheers,

Hi Dylan,
Any updates or general impressions you're getting in the escalation?
Thanks,

Hi Pcorcs,
At this time we do not have plan to publicly document our WES7 components for the TPC build, however for special circumstances - especially when required by regulation - one should contact the product support engineer at pse.rio.embedded@ni.com to request access to this information.
