Well, turns out the solution above was only part of the difficulties I was having with the white screen of death occurring with the LabVIEW development environment. It turns out that our PCs have their Windows Libraries folders (things like Documents, Music, Pictures, Videos) mounted on a network drive in which the server is located in the mid-west, and I am in the south east.
I was able to move the data directory by going to "Tools->Options->Paths". There is one path that gets set to your "My Documents" directory and by changing the "Default Data Directory" to a drive on my local PC like, "C:\users\public\LabVIEW Data", I no longer use a folder on a network drive. I also moved my "Glyphs" and "Icon Templates" to the new location so I would not loose them. Just like that, the white screens are gone!
How old school. This no doubt came from the early corporate strategies of the 90's where everyone thought that profiles should be stored on the network. This led to incredible slowdowns when shutting down, due to settings being written to the network. (In some cases, it took several HOURS to do this!)
