LabVIEW load error code 10?

Solved!
Go to solution

I got some VIs and libaries from a defunct company that is no longer in business where it was written in LabVIEW 5.0.1. My company is running LabVIEW 8.6. I'm getting an error message -- "An error occured loading VI 'config.vi'. LabVIEW load error code 10: VI version 5.0.1 is too old to convert to the current LabVIEW version (8.6)"

These VIs and the VI libraries (LLB) are the sources. I've tried looking at the knowledgebase "Upgrading VIs From LabVIEW Versions Prior to 6.0 to LabVIEW Versions 8.5 and Later" but I'm getting hit with error message "you are not authorized to view this document" Smiley Mad

Why is that? Why the secrecy? I mean, if NI wants to sell a conversion tool, then why not state that a conversion tool needs to be purchased to convert pervious versions to 8.6?

you might need to do an incremental upgrade, ie open the 5.1 code in labview 6.0 then 8.6 possible more than one step.  I have done this in the past but nolonger have a version 0f earlier than 7.1 installed on my pc.

You will need someone to update the VIs for you if you don't have an intermediate version of LabVIEW.  You can post them here and someone will help you, or you can contact your local NI rep.  There is no conversion tool available.  The only way to do the update is to open it in LV 6 - 8.2 and save the source to that version, then open it in LV 8.6.

As the others have said, you will need someone with an older version of LabVIEW to do the intermediate conversion. I also get the "you are not authorized" message when trying to read the article you mention. Hmmmm....

Besides which, my opinion is that Express VIs Carthage must be destroyed deleted
(Sorry no Labview "brag list" so far)

Looks like somebody is playing games with the web site again. This happens from time to time.

thanks to t06fre, I got that webpage and I'm now in contact with a local NI rep.

I do appreciate everyone for helping me out on converting the files, however, there's over 1000 vi files and some redunancies as well. I also told that there could be some files missing, so doing a mass compile is out of the question. I wouldn't want to give you my headache.

Thanks again!

Hi,

I'm having issues in opening a labview library file  which was originally a 5.0 version file . I'm currenty using a 8.6.1 version. single VI files were easy to open in a internmediate version and then open in the 8.6 version. But i'm stuck with the library file. Please help. I'm attaching the library file.

I'm not sure I undertans what you are asking. If you're using an 8.6.1 version of the library, what's the issue? If you need to have it upconverted, post a request in the Upconvert Requests Thread.
