LabView 2010F2 Not Responding

In LabView 2010F2, when I am working on the Block Diagrams, if I do a Save or Save All or Clean Up Diagram, I frequently get a rotating circle and "not responding" mentioned in the title bar. Also sometimes I get this same behavior when I am in the midst of editing Block Diagrams. These events usually last from 3 to 15 seconds.

Today after a simple edit of a block diagram, I got the same "not responding" in the title bar, but this time it did not return from "not responding" even after more than 10 minutes of waiting. I had to eventually terminate LV 2010 using the Task Manager.

What would cause LV2010F2 to lock up and "not respond" for more than 10 minutes?

Why does LV show "not responding" at all ? I am using an Intel i5-750 CPU with 4GB RAM on Windows 7 Ultimate. It rarely shows more that 40% CPU usage and less than 1/2 RAM free, even during these "not responding" times. If LV 2010 is well designed internally, the Operating System should never show the application as "not responding". I do not see this problem with other WIndows applications, even Microsoft's Visual Studio 2010 when I have it doing heavy duty editing, building and debugging.

LV2010F2 should not hang up with "not responding" under any circumstance. If it is busy, it should show the hour glass icon. But it should always respond to the OS and accept UI input.

I am having the same issue. I am running an Intel i3 CPU with 3GB RAM on Windows 7 Premium. I was using the 64-bit version of LV2010 and was having extremely irritating delays with moving wires around, renaming indicators, etc. even after disabling all other processes on my computer. I just switched to the 32-bit version which improved my Block diagram issues but the "Not Responding" when Saving is still a lingering problem.

You' re optimist... :):):)

The are no "fully bugs free" software exists. Bugs are everywhere - in LabVIEW, in Windows, in my and your software as well.

Especially LabVIEW 2010f2 have a lot of bugs, which causing hanging or crashes. During my work right now I making the "collection" of occurred crashes. I working with LabVIEW 2010 approximately six weeks, and during this period it was crashed more than 20 times. Mostly sporadically, so I can't reproduce such crashes and therefore can't send bug report to NI. The only one reprodusible crash which I have found - if you try to rename SubVI inside of XControl inside of lvlib, then it crashed every time (at least with my project). And most crashes occured during development - mostly during saving VI, renaming VI, closing project, deleting broken wires, etc. LabVIEW 8.6 was a little bit more stable.

If you need them fast, you should not add your offtopic post to the end of an unrelated thread. Your question has nothing to do with "LabView 2010F2 Not Responding"!

There is a special place for upconvert requests. Try to post there.

According to the compatibility matrix, somebody needs to convert your 5.0 files to 6.0 or higher so they can be opened in LabVIEW 2010.

Thanks!

I need some critical information in order to help you:

What steps can I take to consistently reproduce this issue?

I know that this happens "frequently" but what steps can you take to make it occur every time?

Attempting to save or close (prior to saving) the Main .vi that I am working in. I get a "Not Responding" message for approximately 30-45 seconds prior to the .vi finishing the saving. Happens every time.

Either Saving or Clean Up Diagram on my large diagrams. Also Save All from my project Explorer.
